Born: February 16, 1928, Marshallville, GA |
Roy's mother dropped out of high school, but soon received her GED. She owned Peggy's Bar in Albany, GA. I personally never had the pleasure of meeting my husband's mother. She died before we met. She died from Lymphoma. She is buried in the Red Oak Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Worth County, GA. There is much talk of the Baldwin side going way back to the House of Stuart, but I have yet to receive such information. |

Harold R. Taylor |
![]() |
Born: October 17, 1899, Montrose, MI |
My biological maternal grandfather of whom I had never met. He was a great secret in my family because, well, back then no one talked about such things as, "divorce". My mother told me all of my life of how his name was, "Robert Spencer Taylor", that he was a race car driver, and that he had died when she was very young (24 years old I believe it was?). I guess she was trying to leave a big mystery for me to never find out anything about him and my grandma getting a divorce. She did love a good mystery! He married Hazel on December 15, 1922 in Flint, MI, and divorced a few years later, I guess? |

Hazel Madelynn Anderson (was Welch) |
![]() |
Born: November 5 or 15, 1903, Alpena, MI |
My maternal grandmother was born either on the 5th or 15th of November. It was always a question that came up from time to timel up to the time when I gave birth to my daughter, then it was decided on the 15th because that's when I had her. Hazel was given to an Apena orphanage soon after being born and was adopted by Martin J. and Martha L. Anderson. Everything was all hush hush about her story, but I did a lot of research here. She had resided in Flint since 1915. She was united in marriage to Martin, July 17, 1931. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Here is a copy of her obituary: Vik, Hazel Madelyn of Flint, age 83, died Friday, August 28, 1987 at St. Joseph Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church 2610 Detroit St. Paston Jonathan Jacobs officiating. Interment, Flint Memorial Park. Mrs. Vik will lie in state at Brown Funeral Home, 1616 Davison Rd after 2 p.m. Sunday and until 9 a.m. Tuesday, then she will be taken to the church for services. The family will be at the funeral home from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church. Mrs. Vik was born in Alpena, Michigan, November 15, 1903. She had resided in Flint since 1915. She was united in marriage to Martin A. Vik, July 17, 1931. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Surviving are: husband, Martin A. Vik; children, Edward Taylor and wife Nancy of Hardy, Arkansas, Leonard Vik and wife Cecilia of Lennon, Eleanor Cadieuxof Flint; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other relatives. |

Martha Louise Hanson |
![]() |
Born: November 26, 1881, Alpena, MI |
She was the only great grandmother whom I ever knew. I loved her very dearly. She was a very tiny and delicate woman. She used to stay the night and sleep with me, and I, not knowingly, used to beat the crap out of her whilst I was asleep! I would always tell her the next morning that I was sorry and give her a big hug. She had been a resident of Flint for 54 years. Martha was a member of Salem Lutheran Church for 50 years, the Naomi Unit of the L.C.W. and the Scatter Good Club.

Martha/Marthe Thelma Anderson/Andreasen |
![]() |
Born: February 11, 1881, Lier Buskerud, NOR |
My maternal great grandmother was the biological mother of my maternal grandmother, Hazel. What I find strange is that her name was the same as Hazel's adoptive married mother, Anderson. I found Len and Martha`s birth information under the name "Jen" Welch at FamilySearch.org on January 25, 2008 with the help of a then new found cousin, Leta O'Connor of NorwegianHeritage.org. Marthe married Lenord (Len/Jen) on February 16, 1901 in Alpena, MI. In fact, her family all came from Lier, Buskerud, Norway too! Maybe they all knew each other? I have no idea. After much research on her, I have come to the conclusion that, OK, she was born an Anderson, but she did not die an Anderson. Therefore, she can not be the one on the tombstone photo that Leta sent to me. And Carl E. Anderson on that other tombstone photo that I got (from someone via the internet), the fact that him dying in the same year that my great grandma died proves that he was not my great grandpa because I never met my great grandpa! So he must have died a lot sooner than 1969. I also think that I know why they gave my grandma (Hazel) up to the orphanage in Alpena, MI. If you look at Len's family, he was one of 14 children (by the same woman!)! That alone will make a man give up any future child he fathers...and this is what happened to my grandma, I believe. I found in the records at FamilySearch.org that Marthe remarried on 21SEP1908 in Alpena, MI to William A. Prato soon after giving Hazel up. I think that she remarried again on 9NOV1910 in Alpena, MI to Arthur Edgar Price, but I'm not 100% sure. The point is, she didn't die an Anderson and my great grandma did. Although she wasn't a blood relative, she was the best great grandma that I ever had! So who are these folks then? I have no idea now. Isn't there anyone out there who can help me figure this all out? |
