String or elastic
Small black buttons (X 2)
Needle (Tools)

Instructions

Step 1: Find a bat pattern that you like online or use this one that I found free to use.
Step 2: Cut out the pattern on cardboard (X 2). I used a cereal box..
Step 3: Tape pattern together.
Step 4: Here's the reverse.
Step 5: Cut out the pattern (X 2) with black felt.
Step 6: Cut out whole pattern.
Step 7: Put tacky glue on one side of the cardboard pattern.
Step 8: Put black felt pattern on now glued cardboard pattern.
Step 9: Do the same for both sides.
Step 10: Let both sides dry over night or for at least 3 hours.
Step 11: Sew along edges to make sure cardboard doesn't show through (optional).
Step 12: Put slits in the sides where you want your string or elastic to hold the mask to your head.
Step 13: Don't forget to cut those eyes out and sew around the edges of them as well!
Step 14: Tie small black button to hold string/elastic in place on underside of mask so it doesn't show.
Step 15: Paint, decorate and embellish your mask as you wish.

Notes

I wanted to make my own glam bat mask for Halloween back in 2008, so here is what I made. This was a very fun project! Make some with your kids or grandchildren! It really doesn't take that much time to create. Please be careful with scissors and sharp edges on the milk jug! Enjoy!
